Not sure what to say?

Dan

I have loved Dan Babb since I met him my freshman year at Marshall in 1977. I attended my first chemistry class with Dr. Babb as Prof...he had set up some God-awful complicated color change reactions to get our attention. Right then and there I decided that I wanted to do what this amazing man did. All I'll say about that is that I tried as hard as I could and it was a hell of a lot of fun. I know I can speak for all the old crew when I say that Dan Babb will be sorely missed.

Dan was my dearest of friends throughout my college years. He gave me great guidance and was the best of pals. We spent many an evening over a glass of scotch playing cribbage and passing time together. I wish I could say I won most of the time but I didn't. He had honed his skills over many many summers playing with his grandfather. We had precious memories in Huntington and Moscow, Idaho, shared several great friends and a few wondrous road trips. I carry a part of Dan with me where ever...

Dan will be sorely missed. As a chair he was a welcoming and friendly face of the department, always approachable equally by students and by staff. His prowess in the classroom set a standard that will long be used as a measure of teaching excellence.

Very sorry to hear this. Dr Babb was our fraternity advisor. Great great passion and enthusiasm. Amazing big laugh. Just simply a very good man

Thank You Doc! Omega Chapter just got a shining light!

Dan was a colleague from the MU College of Science who remembered that the University exists to serve both students and society. I will miss his friendly smile and his thoughtful ways.

'Doc' Babb was Mr Beta Delta of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity at Marshall University. He exemplified what every grand chapter adviser should aspire to be. Doc put his students and chapter brothers above himself. He was also focused, even driven, for his students and the undergraduate Beta Delta brothers to achieve their potential. Doc Babb is legendary.

So sorry to learn of Dan's passing. He was a grand teacher, mentor, and fraternity brother who understood that the values learned in the various fraternities could shape the lives of young men. He was a zealous supporter of Marshall University and its Chemistry department. Truly gifted as a professor, humanitarian, and leader, the world is diminished by far more than one person with his passing. Blessings to his family, fraternity brothers, mentees, and all who known him as a...
