BARBEE, Daniel Weedon, age 73, of Richmond, Va., passed away on December 11, 2011. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mamie and Hunter Barbee; and sister, Ann Barbee Adair. He is survived by his sister, Betty Sue McKinley; and a host of other relatives. He attended John Marshall High School. Upon graduating, he went to work with the government and moved to Honolulu, living a fun and exciting life on a house boat, but when his parents began to age, he felt the need to come home and be there to help with them. He was a very dedicated son. He moved to Hopewell, Va., where he spent the rest of his life. He belonged to the American Legion of Hopewell. He treated friends and his pets like family, always there for everyone, especially Andy, Chun, Billy, and Bud, always the first one with a joke. He will be greatly missed. There will be a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. April 14, 2012.

Not sure what to say?

To Danny's family, especially Betty Sue. I am sorry to hear of his passing. I had not seen Danny for many years. We lived next door to each other growing up, he was the younger brother as was I. Danny was a great guy and friend. He was all boy and I am sure a man many would like and appreciate. He was three years ahead of me in school and I had his cadet uniform when I entered the Corps at JM, as he had graduated the year before me. Again, I am sorry to hear of his passing.

I will always remember him doing trick for us kids, wiggling his ears, finding quarters in places they hadn't been a moment ago.

I just met Daniel at our July 2011 Whitt/Barbee Family reunion and he was a real joy to be around. May God bless and keep him. Alyce Barbee Whitt

danny always had a joke at family dinners that we always looked forward to i miss him and my mom both but I'm sure he's keeping heaven in stitches

Grew up with Danny in Highland Park and we were both Cadets in Eco at John Marshall High School in the 50's. I lived with Danny off and on for a few years on 4th ave. What a great time with the parties and the gang. He made it all happen. His door was always open to ya. What a great friend he was. I have already missed him since his death and will always. God bless you my friend and rest in peace.

I worked with Danny many years ago at Bellwood. Although I have not seen him in over 30 years, I have very fond memories of working with him and enjoying his company.

Danny was the best friend I ever had. We took many interesting trips together. If we didn't visit each other during the day we at least spoke via the telephone. Just two old buddies trying to solve the world's problems. Rest in peace my old friend.
