Daniel Edward Beren

Working for Dan and Joan for years at their home and getting to know and respect them both, I told Dan recently he was my hero and with his usual humility he said " You better be careful with that " That was and always will be Dan.

My heartfelt condolences to the family during this time of sorrow. (1Corinthains 15:26) (Isaiah 61:1,2) Please find peace in knowing that He understands your grief and He cares. 1 Peter 5:6, 7

Dan and I are first cousins on his mother's side. We spent many happy times together when we were little and although we haven't seen each other in a long time, he had a very special place in my heart. Every year since his 50th birthday, I would call him, and on mine, every year he would call me. I shall miss him and his call from now on!

Dan Beren will be missed. He was such an inspiration and his devotion to raising awareness of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis was tireless. I, along with members of our University of Pittsburgh Simmons Center, remain ever grateful for his support and direction in this effort. With my deepest sympathy to his family and friends. Loved Dan&Joan for many reasons.
Especially enjoyed skiing with Dan, taught me the importance of eating a Snicker candy bar after each long run--"Helps keep your energy level up" !!

Almost 30 years ago Dan helped a very green new state House staffer start to understand how the capitol works. He stood out there for his professional courtesy, honorable dealings, and sincere interest in people.

My deepest sympathies to the Beren Family. I worked with Mr. Beren many years ago and he was always a very kind man.

Gracious, caring, prepared, respected. These were hallmarks of Dan's life and career. He was a force on many important public policy issues because of his credibility and willingness to work with and consider the diverse opinions of all serious parties. His life was relationship-based and all who knew him cherished and benefitted from those relationships. He will be long remembered and his loss will be deeply felt.
