Danny and I, both Richmond, CA natives, met at El Cerrito HS, where we were both student leaders and athletes. I was a member of a YMCA club, the 49ers, exclusively white males. I encouraged Danny to apply for membership (1962) as he was a special person, upbeat with a nonstop smile, one of those people who had it'. September 7, 2018. Another anniversary of your birth. You will always be with us.

My wife and I were friends of Dan, and we were shocked and dismayed to learn of his death. He was a fine man and we will miss him.

My friendship with Dan was the kind where we wouldn't speak with one another for a time (we always promised to get together for golf), but when we finally did, it was like no time had passed.
