Daniel O. Birkle

One of my fondest childhood memories is that of going to the Birkle's house in Cary,IL. I would look forward to going the whole year. Mr. Birkle will certainly be missed by all who knew him.

I will always remember Mr. Birkle as a kind, intelligent, happy man.

He and his wife would have our (large) family over to their house. Because of this, I consider Mr. and Mrs. Birkle one of the bravest couples I know! All of us had wonderful times. Mr. Birkle was always patient with us, teaching us how to bait a hook or taking us out for a ride on the lake.

I have happy memories of Mr. Birkle. My sympathy and prays go out to his wife.

Ruth and I have known Dan for a long while. We worked closelywith him at A. G. Becker and also knew him as a dear friend and a kind, wonderful person. This is how we met his wonderful wife Yasuko. We know she will miss him terribly as all of us will. Dan was a wonderful person, readily available to anyone who needed his help. His kindness and genoerosity will always remain a part of us. Our children, who are now grown up, remember the visits to their home in Cary with very fond memories as do...

The world has lost a very good man, and I have lost a very beautiful part of my childhood. Mr. Birkle has "gone fishin'" with God.

My parents, Ruth and Frank Foys, were very good friends of Mr. and Mrs. Birkle for many years. Every summer for years, the Birkles would invite us to spend a day at their home in Cary, Illinois on Lake Killarney. I remember spending the day fishing, relaxing, and of course dining on Mrs. Birkle's wonderful food. (I once found a turtle at the lake which I kept as a pet for a number of years!)
As a young person, you, of course, learn how to conduct yourself by watching adults. Watching...

Dan & Yasuko were always gracious hosts when our family would visit their home in Cary. I remember the time Dan sent us out on his row boat with the mistaken belief we knew how to row. After watching us get "nowhere fast" he jumped in the boat and gave us "city kids" a quick lesson. To this day, everytime I get into a boat, I think of Dan. He was kind man.

Dan has been a good man, and a good friend. He will be missed, until we see him again.
