Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc - Village of Johnson Obituary

Daniel Ike Brandt, 74, of Mt. Bethel, PA, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 12th, at St. Luke's Hospital - Anderson Campus, Easton, PA.

Daniel was born in Stroudsburg, PA, on May 29, 1951, a son of the late Charles B. and Ymkje "Emma" (DeBoer) Brandt.

Dan was a 1969 graduate of Belvidere High School in Belvidere, NJ, where he participated in wrestling and cross-country. In 1971, he married Debra (Delaney) Brandt, with whom he built a home and raised a family. They celebrated 54 years of marriage this past June.

Dan was a self-employed contractor and cabinet maker for over 50 years, working throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Dan’s passion and talent for woodworking continued to grow over the years. In his spare time, he was in his workshop turning pens and mirrors on his lathe to give as gifts, or showing his grandson, Thomas, how to use tools and working on small projects with him.

Over the years, Dan enjoyed a varied assortment of hobbies…from scuba diving off the Jersey shore in the middle of the night to catch lobsters, to enjoying weekend motorcycle trips with Debbie and close friends. Dan heartily embraced technology, was a voracious reader, and could fix almost anything. There was no project he was afraid to tackle, except cooking. However, the thing that Dan enjoyed most was spending time with his family and friends. Dan did not know a stranger; he had a big personality and a lot of love to go around. He cherished his Friday morning breakfast with lifelong friends and could often be found sharing his time and talents with those in need of a little help.

Daniel was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Belvidere, NJ, and was proud to be a member of the regional building committee for many years.

In addition to his wife, Debra, Daniel is survived by a daughter, Christina Flexer, wife of Travis, of Alburtis, PA;  a brother, Robert Brandt and his family, of East Stroudsburg, PA, and a grandson, Thomas Flexer, also of Alburtis. He was predeceased by a brother, Timothy Brandt.

The family would like to express our appreciation for the abundance of love and support that we’ve received.

A Memorial Service will be held on August 31, 2025, at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 35 Ramseyburg Road, Columbia, NJ. The service will also be available via Zoom at 908-319-3440; Passcode 2020.

Services have been arranged by the Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., "Village of Johnsonville", Bangor, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Not sure what to say?

Debbie, Christina, and families,
Saddened to learn of Ike's passing. I have very fond memories of
you both, so very long ago, yet your 50th Wedding Anniversary photo
seems as though neither of you aged a bit, still the cute and vibrant
couple I have always remembered.
May you find comfort in the love and support of those around you.

Our Condolences and Prayers to the Family. Gene & Judy Brandt

Debbie and I both went to High school with Danny . Danny was a great friend and fun to be around in our High school days . We are so sorry for your loss. Tom & Debbie James .

Deb and family- we are deeply saddened to hear of Dan’s passing. He truly was a special person and a great carpenter. May God comfort you and give you strength.

Debbie and Family
Our deepest sympathy in the loss of Dan. May all your memories keep you strong .

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always. May God give you and your family comfort at this time.

Dan was definitely a unique individual. Always looked beyond the obvious. He had a favorite parting statement, "Don't be scared". He seldom was. When he was a little scared he saddled up anyway. A giver not a taker. He was all in. I look forward to his ressurection and all our loved ones. He did too.

We are heart broken by this sad news. Danny was a one of a kind man! We have been so fortunate to have him in our lives, and have him as a friend. He will be greatly missed and we can not wait to see him again in the future. Love to you all....Jordan, Emily, Alivia, Rhett and Beau

Debbie and Family
Our thoughts and prayers are with you
May all your pleasant memories help you
In this time of mourning.
