Not sure what to say?

Others have said it better. There is an enormous hole at ASU and Hugh Downs now. Yet, we are strengthened by this knowledge: The ripple effect of Dan's mentorship and genuine way of being is endless and will live in the scholarship that is yet to be by those who were fortunate enough to have known or worked with Dan.

My sympathies to the Brouwer family and everyone else who knew Dan. He brought joy to so many people. His smile always made the day better. He made ASU a better place to teach and learn.

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Dan’s passing. I thought he was traveling for the past month. Several of us enjoyed wine, food and good conversation at his place on April 30. He was a sweet neighbor, always with a smile and a hello whether he was riding by on his bike or sitting on his patio reading. My deepest condolences to his family and his friends. You will be missed Dan!

Dan, YOU moved so beautifully around the world, spreading your peaceful vibes and gentle smile. Our hearts hurt. We truly lost a wonderful soul. This world will not be the same without you. You were more than just our Tapestry neighbor, you were our genuine friend. Our deepest condolences to friends and family. We are with you in your heartbreak. May the memories of his gentle smile help ease your pain.

Dan was a great neighbor and a great guy. I moved into my condo at Tapestry in Phoenix over a year and a half ago and Dan was extremely welcoming, warm, and caring. I remember going to and from home and seeing Dan either outside or inside reading and writing. He would always greet my girlfriend and I with a genuine smile that showed he really cared. We will miss our neighbor and friend Dan. We send our deepest and warmest condolences to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Will always remember the oldest of all you kids and seeing you every morning on the way in to work. extreamly sorry for your loss. evan reiss
