Daniel Joseph Carr

I grew up in Edgewater, and when I was a little girl Mr. Daniel Carr was Edgewater hero. I remember him being Edgewaters go to for anything law enforcement for my grandma. She and my granddad always spoke so highly of him.... Fast-forward-plus-plus years, I decided I wanted to be a police officer. Mr. Carr saw me at the track one day practicing for the physical and offered to help me train, he did and I made it in. I will never forget him for that. I met Sgt. Carr at the Birmingham City Jail as an Correctional Officer , he always had a pleasant smile and pleasant conversation . I felt honored in knowing a caring person . Its a great loss to the city of Birmingham.

I am really sorry; I just found out about Dan's transition. My prayers and deepest sympathy to Phyllis and the entire family.

I met Dan Carr through his wife, Phyllis who attended high school with me; however, we all worked at Bham Police Department. I had the pleasure of being around him in his home and at different events. I grew to like him despite he would always tell me what he thought about something unrelated to the police department whether I agreed or not with him. We would laugh. Dan will be missed.
