CONVERTINO, Daniel Daniel Convertino, widower of Loraine Mitchum Convertino, died Monday, February 18, 2008, at his residence. He was born in Charleston, SC the son of Santo and Rosa Marie Da Ttoumo Convertino on April 8, 1923. Daniel attended Mitchell Elementery School and the High School of Charleston before enlisting in the U.S. Navy where he honorably served his country during World War II. He retired from the Del Monte Fruit Company after many years of faithful service and was the former owner of the Impala Night Club on Meeting Street. Daniel was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, enjoyed model shipbuilding and will be remembered by his family and friends as a generous person. He is survived by his brothers: Santo J. Convertino and his wife, Betty, and A. Charlie Convertino; his sisters: Carolina C. Marcey and her husband, Vernon; Rose Marie Kanapaux and her husband, Bernie, and Victoria Peterson and her husband, John, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The relatives and friends of Daniel Convertino are invited his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at the James A. McAlister Chapel. Interment, St. Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the JAMES A. MCALISTER FUNERAL HOME 1620 Savannah Hwy. this Tuesday evening between 5:00 and 7:00 PM. My most sincere condolences, I worked for Danny playing Drums at the Zebra Club from 1965 to 1967.
Danny Was a great Boss and a special friend. He encouraged me to complete my education .
The last time I saw Danny was in 1972 we played golf together.
God rest his soul, he will be greatly missed.

An old time friend of my father and mother. His wife Lorraine and sister Deloris were big poker buddies with my mother.
It was an honor to know Danny and his family. It was also an honor to be buddies with a WWII vet and hear actual war stories.
He will be fondly remembered.
