Daniel Conway, 60 of Albany, passed away Sunday at his home. Dan was born in St. Louis, MO to Julius Charles and Regenia Delores (Minshell) Conway. He grew up in Granite City, Illinois and was selected by the State of Illinois for the NROTC program on a scholarship to the University of Mississippi. After being discharged from the Navy, Dan joined the Marines where he served for 27 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Dan married Deb Moore in Granite City in 1977. After years of traveling with 4 little girls, they settled in Albany in 1997. Dan was very active in his community, including the Willamette Community Church, the Whitespires Church, neighborhood watch, and was appointed by the Mayor to the Albany Safety Commission. He worked as an Intel Officer and read 4 newspapers every morning to keep current on the world scene. He is survived by his wife; mother; daughters, Dana Woosley and husband Scott of Manassas, VA, Eva Jones and husband Tim of Albany, Lissa Kimball and husband Duane of Anchorage, Alaska, and Sara Millay and husband Andy of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Emily Taylor VanPelt, Samantha Morgan VanPelt, Justin Dane VanPelt, Johnathan Michael VanPelt, Jacob David Jones, Joseph Daniel Jones, Mikayla Eden Woosley, Angelica Donna Woosley, and Allison Regina Millay; brothers, Steven Conway of Evansville, Ill, James Conway of Colinsville, Ill, and John Conway of Madison, Indiana. Private family services are being held.
