WILLIAMSBURG — Daniel Joseph Coughlin Sr., 75, of Williamsburg, died suddenly on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.

Born on June 1, 1931, he was the son of the late Keiran and Elizabeth (Lyman) Coughlin. Dan married Joyce Higgins on Feb. 6, 1954, in Southfield.

He was a veteran who served our country honorably.

Together Dan and Joyce moved to Kalkaska in 1968 from Detroit. Dan was a member of the VFW Post 8684, Moose Lodge 2348, Knights of Columbus 3rd degree, American Legion Post 480 and St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church.

Surviving Dan is his loving family, including his wife of 52 years, Joyce; children, Ken (Joanne) Coughlin of Rapid City, Jim (Diane) Coughlin of Traverse City, Tom Coughlin of Rapid City, Dorothy (Doug) Fauver of Traverse City and Karen (John) Bennett of Williamsburg; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty (Dick) Petty of Farmington, Kathy Moore of Lake Orion, Helen (Dan) Chevrier of Lake Orion and Sharon (Hal) Masters of Rochester; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Coughlin of Livonia.

Preceding Dan in death are his sons, Bill Coughlin and Daniel J. Coughlin Jr.; and siblings, Keiran Coughlin Jr. and Patricia Clements.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Barrand officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in remembrance of Dan to St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church.

Arrangements were made by the Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home.

Dear Joyce and kids , I am so very sorry to hear of Dans passing. It seems only yesterday,you were in the store in Lodi. A lot of friendly topics,laughter and conversations started as people entered those doors. Due to health reasons,i am unable to attend,but all of you are in my prayers.
