Not sure what to say?

We send our sympathy to the entire Dale family. We know you will miss your husband and father. One of our fondest memories was to see him and Peter at the Osaka airport as we arrived at our first "foreign" stop. What wonderful memories we have of that visit and of all the Dale children while at SBS. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Dan, and you too, Joan, did what you always do, years ago, that influenced the rest of my life. While at Crossroads Fellowship, you encouraged Bill to go to Japan, who wrote back to the church asking for a summer team to join Ralph and Stella. Joining that team began my lifelong interest in missions and deeply influenced my walk with Christ. There are no words to thank you enough. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Dear Joan and Children,
Jean and I have fond memories of Dan as he would come to visit at Stony Brook the wonderful and always interesting children he prayerfully put intio our care over many years. Dan was a respected model to the faculty and staff of one devoted to Christ and the challenge His grace to the people of Japan. We enjoyed seeing his children's grasp of that language and culture. The Dale's were a Stony Brook tradition .
God's best to you Joan in this transition time, a...

After reading all that has been said what more can I add. D.T. Dale was used by the Lord to keep me in Japan. D.T. was a great teacher, leader, mentor, father, husband, and the list could go on. Praise the Lord for the priviledge of being under his care for a year. He will be missed. I am so glad to have visited with D.T. and Joan in 2008.

Mr. and Mrs. Dale were a major part of two of the most important and formative years of my life. From Mr. Dale I learned decisiveness; learning by listening and observing - a lesson I have greatly valued and passed along; dedication to a goal; the importance of discerning people's strengths and weaknesses and helping people move toward success; to enjoy and embrace the variety of experiences available in life; but mostly, the beauty of Christ and His Church.

Uncle DT had such a presence. I loved his voice and his laughter. He will be greatly missed by all of Grandma Tilley's family.

As A fellow-missionary with TEAM in Japan, I always found it a joy to be with Dan and Joan; and enjoyed the way he thought "out of the box". It was never boring to be with Dan, and his subtle sense of humor was much appreciated.Having just spoken with him a weerk before, it was a real shock to hear of his accident, and then his departure from this life. It's good to know tat Dan is with the Lord Whom he loived and served for so many years; but he will be missed here on planet earth.

Great Uncle D.T. "a tall drink of water" looked a lot like my Grandpa and he was as easy to love! He was mysterious - living in Japan, coming home on furlough and teaching us bible verses in Japanese - I still remember learning John 14:6 for my Pioneer Girl badge (many years ago) in a time when not many people were flying at all needless to say to Japan! I always have loved his artistic (hand made) Christmas cards, his poetry and his love and care for my family. His sonorous voice was always...
