In ancient Egypt as well as Japan the Lotus blossom has symbolized life, death and rebirth. it also symbolizes Dan's interest in these cultures.

The quiet courage and patient dignity with which Dan faced and dealt with his illness have impressed us for the past forty years. When the time came for him to lay down that burden he did so in the same spirit. Throughout it all Robin and Cathy provided him the unstinting love and support he needed to rise to every challenge. We know that his departing leaves a space in the lives of all who knew him can never be filled. Yet we take comfort in the thought that his life has enriched and can...

Dan was such a gentle soul & fascinating conversationalist! I would go to the library looking for a book & walk out with a head full of new knowledge just from talking with Dan! What wonderful memories his friends & family have to share!
