Hillview Funeral Chapels - Patterson Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Daniel Durbin Jr., a beloved brother, friend, Vietnam veteran and dedicated serviceman who served his country with honor. Born on February 22, 1954, Daniel lived a life marked by kindness, strength and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Daniel graduated from Orestimba High School, where he built lasting friendships and laid the foundation for his future. He proudly served in the United States Navy as a corpsman, providing critical medical care and support to U.S. Marines as a medic during the Vietnam War. His dedication and bravery exemplified his deep commitment to helping others, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked alongside.

Beyond his military service, Daniel built a career in retail management, working tirelessly throughout his life. His passion for business led him to co-own a screen-printing company, where his hard work and entrepreneurial spirit shone. In his later years, he contributed to the Pine Mountain Lake community, first at the marina and later at the golf course, forming lasting connections with colleagues and friends.

Daniel had a deep love for the outdoors and sports, spending many joyful days golfing, fishing, and camping. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching NASCAR and cheering for his favorite teams—the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Los Angeles Dodgers. His enthusiasm for sports brought him camaraderie, excitement, and countless cherished moments.

As a brother, he brought joy, laughter, and steadfast support, creating memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His presence was a source of comfort and inspiration, and his legacy is one of love, generosity, and service.

Daniel is survived by his loving siblings: Alan (Kim); Cheryl; Bill; and his step-sisters, Cheryl, Charlene, and Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Naomi Souza. He will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A service to honor Daniel’s life will be held at 12:30pm on Tuesday, May 13th, 2025 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery where we will come together to celebrate his journey and hold his memory close.

Though he is no longer with us in person, his spirit remains in the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the service he gave to his country and community.

The step brother I never met. So Sorry

The brother I never met. So sorry

Time does not dull the memories- "pressed between the pages of my mind".

Sure loved that guy ... "Memories-pressed between the pages of my mind".

I met Dan at PepBoys. I enjoyed very much working with him. He was tough but could tel he cared very much about the people and doing the job right. I missed him very much when he left and unfortunately lost touch with him. I am so sorry to hear of his passing and with a heavy heart I offer my condolences.

I remember growing up with Danny in our little town of Crows Landing! Use to go to his house and see his sisters. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends
