I learned of Dan's passing tonight. I knew Dan when he was a professor at the University of Georgia and also knew Lena there as a close friend. I was their female honor attendant at their wedding in Athens and kept in touch in the years that followed. Dan was a wonderful person--kind beyond words, witty, thoughtful, talented.
