We were so sorry to hear this news about Coach Garrett..He was responsible for shaping the lives of many athletes at LM Smith School and Huffman High School..He will be missed..

My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead.

I am very saddened to hear about Dan.He and I played basketball at Banks High in the mid 60's.Dan was very good friend and even though we did not stay in touch with each other,I will always cherish the time we knew each other.

Danny Garrett was my nephew, his mother Hilda was my oldest sister, I am James Lewis and I have many fond memories of Dan he was a lovely little boy and grew up to be a wonderful man. I will miss him.

My heart goes out to you Marcia and your family. Coach Garrett was much loved and he truly was a 'gentleman' I will miss him very much.

My deepest sympathy. I will never forget the baseball trips to Daytona Beach with you and Dan. Those were very happy times. Dan made a big impact on me and my brother. It makes me very sad to hear this kind of news. Dan was a blessing in my life.

Marcia, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I first met Coach Garret at Smith School where he was my teacher and I was thrilled to see him at Huffman High School too. Coach Garret was a great teacher and good friend and he will be missed.

L.M. Smith School is where Coach and Marcia came into my life. Coach was the answer to a lot of students algebra woes. He and Marcia put up with me coming to their house for several months to get math help.

At Huffman, Coach helped me out of several jams I got myself into and afterward the only payment he asked for was for me to run off my debt. I new I could never get away with anything because Coach usually had lunch with my dad at the Star restautrant or the Cedar Post...
