Daniel Gartner

I taught with Danny at Robinwood Elementary. All the students like his classes and he got along well with the staff. I have had the opprrtunity to see him interact with track and field participant and saw what a wonderful coach and mentor he was. He will be missed by many.

Walt also had great respect for him.

He will be missed!

Coach Gartner was one of my first heroes. I remember watching him play for my father. He became my coach, mentor, friend and a shoulder to lean on. Whitehall has lost a legend.

What a great teacher, mentor, coach and inspiration for everyone! Dan, "Coach Gartner", was the shot put and discus coach at WYHS for the 30 years that I was in charge of the track & field program as well as many many years previous to that and for 3 years after I resigned. He always had such an amazing positive attitude toward the sport and athletes and he always had words of wisdom and encouragement for everyone. Dear Vickie -

We sure will miss Danny. He has felt like a son to me from the time we moved onto Pierce Avenue one house south of his. He was not only a great person, but also one who was always willing to help you out in any way.

I will always remember our good visit last summer with Howard on his porch talking about the good old days.
