Not sure what to say?

My sympathies go out to Mrs. Gilbert and all the Gilbert Family. At Moravian College we all signed up for "Gilbert" courses and loved every minute of his enthusiastic teaching. History and religion have remained my lifelong passion. Having worked at Historic Bethlehem as a volunteer under his guidance his enthusiasm for the history of our city and it's history was ever present. I will always remember him and his bright smile.....he remains an ever present reminder of those wonderful days at...

We will long remember Dan. When I joined the Moravian College faculty in 1963, I was inspired by his leadership and his expertise in American history. Thank you, Dan!

My condolences on the passing of one of the finest professors I have ever known. It was a joy to participate in recitation in Dr. Gilbert's classes. I loved it. His enthusiasm, and his knack to make our minds dance, was his life-long gift to us. As a political science major who loved history, I had no idea until graduation day that I also had a minor in history. Dr. Gilbert was also a five-star citizen, something I now place a high premium on in my retiremernt years. Rest in peace, dear...

Karl and the rest of the Gilbert family -- I don't know how I missed the obit earlier, but I extend my sincere condolences on the homegoing of my favorite Moravian College professor. I looked forward to seeing him long after leaving Moravian, and I'm sure all of you have some great memories. I'm sorry I will not be able to attend the memorial service. I'm praying it will be a wonderful celebration of life.

My sincere coldolences to the Gilbert family(also thanks to Karl for handling SSA business).Such fond memories of Dr Gilbert, who made history so exciting that I changed my major in year #3@ Moravian..He was so loved there and never to be forgotten by his many students! I am expecting his memory to be honored many times over at our upcoming Alumni reunion.
Sincerely, Virginia Stanglein, MC Class 1972

Dear Dr. Michael JT Gilbert and family,
Please accept our deepest condolences on the recent loss of your father. Based upon the obituary that I read, he had a long and distinguished career in higher education and left a wonderful legacy of which your entire family can be proud. Part of that legacy is having a son like you who has made a difference at Baldwin-Wallace College in the short time that you have been here. No doubt your dad would be pleased with the excellence with which...

Dear Joan and Family,

Please accept my symphathies in Dan's passing. He not only loved his subjects and his teaching, but he enjoyed every aspect of college life, from 'faculty coffee' to attending athletic events and cheering for the Greyhounds. One of the memories that is indelible for me happened at faculty coffee. I asked Dan a question about something that had been portrayed the night before, on TV, in a mini-series about WWII. "Let me tell you how it was before we entered...

Dear Gilbert Family,
I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Gilbert. As I make plans to attend the 40th reunion of the Class of 1972 in a few weeks, I have been remembering my experiences at Moravian. I had Dr. Gilbert for American Colonial history, and he was my favorite history professor. He taught with humor, expertise, and a profound love of this nation and its founding. I learned how to think about history from him, and to truly appreciate the unique American experience in...
