Not sure what to say?

Mr. Haley was my 4th grade teacher at Angle Lake elementary. I believe he was the first black man (or person!) to teach in Highline SD. I think this because my mother along with other moms took me to school on my first day in his class, I think she thought I might be afraid of him! That was NOT a problem! I loved him! He had such energy and enthusiasm. Whether he was teaching us spirituals, reading Dr. Doolittle or pitching a baseball to us he did it all with a twinkle. His photo so reminded...

I had Mr. Hailey for 4th grade at Madrona in the mid 70's. He was so passionate about math and civil rights. He made an impact in my life, he is surely missed.

To the family of Daniel Hailey (he will always be Mr Hailey to me). I was recently talking to my kids about their favorite teachers and it reminded me of my favorite teacher, Mr. Hailey. I decided to see if I could find out where he was these days and was saddened to find out he had passed. Mr. Hailey was my 4th grade teacher at Madrona Elementary, probably around 1968. I remember his love of teaching math and I believe that had something to do with me becoming a CPA. I wish I would have...

To Mrs. Julia Hailey and to the entire Hailey family, I am so sorry for your loss. It was with Mr. Hailey, Sr. and Mr. Morgan that my father traveled from Louisiana to Seattle during the early years of World War II. The Hailey's, the Morgan's, and my parents all put down roots together in Seattle in the early 1940's. They established their homes and raised their families within a friendship that would last the rest of their lives. My parents have passed on now, but I can remember how they...

To the entire Hailey family but especially to my friends Cathy and Michael, I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out to you and your entire family. Alesia Massingale

Dad, Granddad, Uncle, and a brother once upon a time - you live on in each of us, our children and theirs. Thank you for keeping the faith!

I often thought of Mr Hailey as he left a huge impression in my life. I was blessed to have him as my 4th grade teacher at Madrona Elementary. I have many fond memories of that time some 40 plus years ago. He will be missed and my thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I did not have the good fortune of meeting the late Daniel Hailey. I do know that he must have been great as he raised an amazing son, Ron Hailey, that I do have the pleasure to work with. My thoughts and prayers are with the Hailey community.

My thoughts are with your family, especially today. I felt Mr.. Hailey's presence even though I wasn't able to leave to attend the service. Mr. Hailey was a strong man and he blessed to have a loving, supportive family. It was an honor to meet him in his last stages of life on this earth. He will be in my heart forever.

Sincerely, Melissa Heitkamp, NAC
