Carol, I was so sad at hear about the loss of your husband. He was the most gentle and patient man I had ever met with a beautiful spirit about him...Even though, we had lost touch over the years I have many fond memories of your husband and family growing up as neighbors. Tell Cori, Cristen and Danny I think of them often especially all the summers and times playing in the garage putting on recitals and shows for him and many others...I'm sure he will be missed dearly but looking down...

Coach Herlihy was an institution in Avon and a great basketball coach there for many years. He coached and taught all the Ward brothers and we are all sad at his passing.

To all the Herlihy family..my deepest sympathy on the loss of your husband and father. I had 3 children who went through the Avon Public Schools and Mr Herl was a part of each of their lives. He was always willing to go the extra mile for the kids and support them in their efforts. He was a wonderful man and educator...God bless you all...Marie Markunas

Cristen, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Having lost my dad unexpectedly at the age of 65, I certainly feel your pain. I regret never having met your dad. My two passions outside of investing are teaching and coaching basketball as I have coached janies town team for 6 straight yrs. Reading the accolades given your Dad make me truly sorry I never had a chance to know him

Dear Herlihy Family,

Mr. Herl was one of my favorite teachers at Avon High School. Whether it was teaching physics, calculus or helping with those extra night courses some of us were fortunate to take at Harvard, Mr. Herl was always incredibly helpful and supportive. He was also a heck of a basketball coach.

I teach high school chemistry now and he was, without a doubt, an important inspiration and role model for me when I considered going into teacher.
