Dan was a good friend at Evangel. I have known him since 1958 and we served on the Student Council. He was a dedicated Christian and a leader on campus and in life. We will all miss him and my prayers go out for Elaine and his family. He is now in the presence of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Elaine and family: Im so sorry to hear of Dans demise. May God be with you in a special way in the days ahead. I have fond memories of both of you from Evangel College as a Pioneer.

How blessed the city & its citizens were when Dan (& Elaine )Johnson accepted the Presidency of our University of Toledo.Every tribute is similar so the truth is self-evident. No wiser administrator, farsighted civic philosopher or more kind , caring, generous human being has crossed our path of Life.
A life like his is never long enough. But neither will be the good memories you have left for us, President Daniel Johnson!
May your memory always be for a blessing.

Elaine, Gail and I send our sincerest condolences to you and your family. We were stunned to learn of Dan's death - so unexpected. I am so grateful that I had the wonderful conversation with him on his birthday on June 10th. It was like old times and brought back so many good memories of times that we spent with you in Denton. Dan was a great colleague and friend and will be missed by many. Please know that we are thinking about you.

He was a kindhearted, bright and inspiring leader. I am so lucky to have known him. Sincere condolences to Elaine and the entire family.

My father worked for Lathrop Company. As a member of 500 Union for thirty years, he had been a mason and worked some projects with him. Prayers for his family and may he rest in peace. Amen

I was shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of my dear friend Dan Johnson. We spoke at length just a few weeks ago about his passion for the University of Toledo and the City of Toledo. When Dan wrote his book on economic development, he honored me by asking me to write the forward. He was kind, humble, and brilliant. My deepest condolences to his wonderful family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Just sent you birthday wishes on June 10 of this year celebrating your 80th birthday and now heaven has gained a wonderful man. Words can never express the sadness I am feeling at the loss of this wonderful man. Dr. Johnson gave me wonderful career advice, served as a mentor and a reference as I travelled throughout my academic pursuit and career path. His kindness and appreciation for all things big and small made everyone he came in contact with feel special. He was a pure joy to...
