Daniel Steven Kemp

I was stunned tonight when I heard of Daniel's passing. My heart goes out to all of you.
Although I haven't seen Daniel for a long time, I wanted to share a memory with you. In fifth grade, Daniel and my son, Luke, were a team in Mrs. C's gifted math class for the stock market game. Daniel would ride his bike to my house after school every day and he and Luke would "trade" stocks. I think they ended up taking third place in the district or state, competing against up to eighth...

You will be greatly missed <3

We will all miss you very much.

It was my pleasure and honor to have Daniel string for us at Arcadia News. I not only edited his copy, but had lunch with him a couple of times -- both activities fun and good experiences. He would have made a fine journalist and certainly was a fine young man.

Daniel was a wonderful intern in the Mesa bureau. He covered Chandler and Mesa police, both of which are extremely busy. He read 100s of incident reports in Chandler, and managed to cull some wonderful stories, using his own news judgement, which later turned out to be some of the most read items on azcentral.com. He was so polite, and nice, and kind. I really enjoyed working with him. My heart goes out to his family.
