Not sure what to say?

Mr. Kline, the unforgettable Gym Teacher at Edison Junior High School in my 7th and 8th grade in 1961/62/63. In the middle of winter, he took us outside in white Ts and gym shorts to play tag football in the field down an alley a block from the school. Temps were no problem. He was noted for his huge sneaker. He was well liked.

Dear Ruthie,

I just now learned of Dan's passing. I am so very sorry! I love you both and wish I would have known so I could have attended the service. I will keep you in my prayers. Sympathy to all your family as well.

To Mr. Kline's family:
What a man. I am terribly sorry for your loss. I can picture his smile as if I had just seen him yesterday. He was such an amazing human being. So gentle. loving, positive, and kind. Seemed exactly the same when he came to our reunion (was it #20?) as he did in the late 70's at Susquehanna High School. He was the kind of teacher to come to your 20th reunion (with his lovely wife) and actually have a great time! I'm glad that he was my teacher and feel lucky to...

I like the way ordinary people who are extraordinary are recognized. Mr. Kline was an ordinary guy--a gym teacher who had a profound impact on so many of our lives. I never saw the guy in a bad mood; he was always upbeat. A great man who will be missed.

Dan's impact on those around him was never more evident than in the words spoken during his funeral service -- especially the beautiful remembrances offered by his family. Their words captured his spirit and positive influence on the thousands he touched over many decades. He lived a great life, and he also helped countless others to do the same.

Mr. Kline was also my gym teacher while I attended Edison from 1964 - 1967. Against my better judgment, he convinced me to climb that rope to the ceiling, and he soothed my skinned palms after I slipped all the way down. His gentle smile and, most of all, that arm-over-the-shoulder thing he always did -- something I could not do then but which I learned to do soon after leaving Edison, something I have done and continue to do in his memory and his honor every day to this day. Dan Kline, I...

I don't believe humans can be any greater than Mr. Kline. Although it seems like yesterday, I've not seen him in a long time. I wish he was still here so I could talk with him - if only just for a moment, so I could at least say goodbye.

Mr. Kline was a wonderful teacher and person. I had the pleasure of being one of his students as Susquehanna {class of 1984}. I have seen both him and his wife recently and his wonderful smile and sense of humer never changes. My prayers are with you and your family. He was an angel and a blessing here on earth and now he will shine just as bright in heaven.

The world is truly lonelier now that Dan is gone. I will miss his infectious smile and his joy of life. I can only imagine the reunion waiting for Dan when he entered those pearly gates. Our thoughts and prayers and love are sent out to all of you.
