I have many fond memories of Father Dan when he was Asst. Headmaster at Prep and later on as our pastor at St George Church. So long Lefty and may you rest in peace. Tom Koscelnik Cathedral Prep 51.

MANY HEARTS ARE HEAVY IN ERIE AND AROUND AS WE LEARNED OF MSGR. MARTIN'S PASSING. WE HAD SO MUCH FUN WITH HIM WEEKLY AT PANOS RESTAURANT ON EAST 38TH STREET--WE CALLED THIS THE FRIDAY DINNER MEETINGS. MSGR. ENTERTAINED US WITH HIS OPINIONS ON SO MANY DIFFERENT SUBJECTS AND ALWAYS TOLD US ALL TO "HANG IN THERE". MY LATE HUSBAND, JIM SCHAAF AND MSGR. WERE VERY GOOD FRIENDS AND I HAVE A CHERISHED PHOTOGRAPH OF MSGR. AND A GROUP OF THE "GOOD OL BOYS" ON A CREDENZA IN MY HOME. HE WILL BE...

It is never easy to find adequate words to assuage the feelings of loss that family and friends experience when a loved one dies. I'm sure that all who knew D.J. would agree. His many wonderful qualities as a human being were recognized by many of us who knew him as son, brother, Priest, teacher, counselor and above all: FRIEND. His physical presence may no longer be with us, but his spirit will be with us...always. As many of us who met him first as students and later in life as friends...

I am saddened by the death of Father Martin and extend my sincere sympathy to his family.
While I attended Cathedral Prep from 1951 to 1955, Father Martin reflected a positive influence for me and my fellow classmates.
Three years ago, while visiting Erie for my mother Gilda's 85th birthday, I was able to meet Father Martin and express my appreciation to him with words, a hand shake and a hug.
May God bless him forever.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Monsignor Martin. Not only did I know Monsignor as a priest, but a very close friend of the family. He will be sady missed. His favorite saying to me and everyone was "HANG IN". He also heard my confession in my in-laws bedrooom after Joe and I became engaged. He also counselled me during very trying times. I will never forget our wonderful meetings. God Bless.
