Professor Dan brought passion, enthusiasm, optimism, and tenacity to every class that I had the privilege of attending during my time as a San Jose State public health student. Classes always began with a smile as he "brought the party" and offered inspiring words simply about living an impactful life as future public health leaders. I vividly remember when he shared about his battle with cancer on the first day of class. Uncontrollable tears rolled down my cheeks, not out of sympathy, but...

An amazing person, role model and a true force of nature...the world feels a little smaller without you around us.

Dan's enthusiasm and humor infused all of his amazing endeavors. He will be remembered always for his gift of Caring and Love of Life.
