DANIEL T. McLAUGHLIN, age 77, beloved husband of 49 years to Margaret (nee Leneghan); father of Timothy (Brigit); Ann Pringle (Victor); Mary Johnson (Joseph); Michelle, Diane, and Peter (Heather); grandfather of Kara, Michael, Kaley, Ryan, Katie, Joey and Jake; son of the late Mary Ann (nee Sallee) and Peter McLaughlin; brother of Barbara Swasey (Peter), James (Judy) and Elaine Henwood; beloved uncle and great uncle of many. Mr. McLaughlin retired from Westlake City Schools and taught for many years at Dover Elementary, and he was a member of the West Side Irish American Club. Passed away September 20, 2012. Funeral Mass Monday, September 24, St. Raphael Church (525 Dover Center Rd., Bay Village 44140) at 10:30 A.M. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery (Avon). Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME, 29150 LORAIN RD. AT STEARNS RD., NORTH OLMSTED, SUNDAY 1-4 AND 6-8 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Raphael School Scholarship Fund.

I was a stundent of Mr McLaughlin's. He was without a doubt, one of my favorite teachers of all time. To this day, I often tell others about him. He played four square with us at recess, sang Danny Boy and Swing Low Sweet Chariot to us in class. (beautiful voice) He would pin green construction paper on anyone that did not wear green on St Patricks Day. He tied our long stocking hats to the back of our chair and other silly stuff. He was firm but fair.
