Mar 13, 1947 – Aug 24, 2017 (Age 70)
Daniel Kevin McMaster, 70, of Barton, Vermont and beloved husband of Catherine (Burke) McMaster, passed away on the morning of August 24, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 13, 1947 in Boston, MA to the late John & Helen McMaster.
He fought in the Vietnam War, while serving in the United States Army.
Dan married Catherine Burke on February 16, 1974 who survives him.
Daniel spent a majority of his life in the Boston area where he worked and retired from the MBTA. He coached children’s basketball and soccer for many years, influencing and shaping the lives of both children and families.
The McMasters then moved to Barton, Vermont where they owned and operated Our Village Inn.
He was a Selectman for the Town of Barton and also the Barton Fire Department Chief. Dan drove school and tour buses, and also was a substitute teacher
Daniel and Catherine have also owned and operated Barton’s Memory Lane Antique Shop for over twenty years.
Dan was a jack of all trades, and he loved working with his hands. He renovated many houses in Barton from the inside out; and always lended a helping hand when a friend needed some expertise or advice with cars to carpentry, or electrical to plumbing.
He will truly be missed by all those that were lucky to have known him.
Dan is survived by his loving wife Catherine McMaster, his three children, Emily Frazier of Holly Springs, NC; Daniel McMaster of Portland, ME; Kaitlyn McCoy and her husband Peter McCoy of Westford, VT; and his three grandchildren, Mary, Suzanna, and Matthew Frazier; his brother Jack McMaster of Weymouth, MA; and by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 1:00pm at the Barton United Church in Barton, VT, with Rev. Evelyn Coupe and Rev. Mark Mendes officiating the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barton United Church at 15 Glover Road, Barton, VT 05822, or to the Barton Public Library at P.O. Box 549, Barton, VT 05822.

So sorry to hear of the passing to this wonderful man & coach. He was such a positive influence & so supportive of the girls he coached in the Weymouth Youth Soccer back in the eighties & nineties. Your family is in our thoughts & prayers as you find your way through this difficult time.

My daughter Nikki was coached by Dan in Weymouth both in soccer and basketball, and both she and her friends have always said that they liked him so much because he taught them so much and was so supportive in their efforts. Our condolences to the family.
