Hello. You don't know me but I was stationed with you in Iraq. I attended your service and it was heart breaking. I want you to know that I pray for your family every year since your passing. Memorial Day weighs heavy on me and I think of your sacrifice. Mostly, I think of your family. May God bless them and hold them in His arms. Forever I will pray. I'm somehow just now stumbling upon this and it both breaks and mends my heart at the same time. I miss you so much, Danny. And I'll never stop being proud of the way you lived your life. Nor of the exceptional and patriotic manner in which you gave your life.

You were a hero in my eyes long before your passing made you a hero in the eyes of our country.

I am so glad I got the chance to meet Dan. Although we only knew each other for a short while in EOD school, he was one of a kind. I still do not think I've met someone as genuine and kind as him.
I am very sad to hear of his death.
