I´m so so sorry to hear this. I edited his Medicinal Plants of Native America many years ago and our paths occasionally crossed through the years. He was a lovely person.

I thought of Dan last night. I know he had become too infirm to continue coming to me for haircuts. I miss the wonderful conversations we had about so so so many things. Dan was extremely supportive of me when I was Director of the Ann Arbor Film Festival. He let me know who proud he was of me and that he enjoyed my company as much as I enjoyed his. You were fortunate to be blessed with such a kind, thoughtful, fascinating, and brilliant man. That Dan was truly something. We've all lost a gem...
