Daniel Murphy Obituary
Simpsonville - Daniel James Murphy Jr, 71, of Simpsonville, SC passed away suddenly surrounded by his family, on November 28, 2018 at his son's home under Hospice Care. He was born on August 12, 1947 in Bronx, NY. He was son of the late Daniel James Murphy III and Loretta Davis Murphy. Daniel served in the United States Navy from 1965 - 1970 as a ship machinist. He then worked as a Senior Gas Trouble-man Inspector for Orange and Rockland Utilities, Pear River, NY for 33 years where he retired. He was a volunteer firefighter for Storm King Fire Engine 2, in Cornwall on Hudson, NY. Daniel was a loving father, and devoted friend to many. He was a dedicated fisherman on the Snow Goose fishing chartered boat in Port Chester, NY.
He is survived by his son, Daniel James Murphy IV, daughter-in-law, Whitney Elizabeth Murphy; daughter, Kerri Murphy; his brothers: Dennis Murphy, Thomas Murphy and his wife, Lucille Murphy, and Timothy Murphy; grandson, Connor Murphy; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 9:00 am at Mackey Funerals and Cremation at Century Drive.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
