Daniel J. O'Connell

I served under Captain O´Connell in 1965 as a brand new Ensign. He was a great teacher, demanding but fair. He was a true sailor and leader. Fair winds and following seas Captain!

I always held "Captain Dan", and all the other legends at Tourmaline Surf Park in very high esteem. If I end up being half the man that the Captain was I would be very happy.

I shall be forever priviledged to have known Cap'n Dan as my uncle. Always the consumate officer and gentleman, Dan set a standard for "class" that is humbling. What a terrific couple, Dan and Eunice! Aloha, Sir! You are deeply missed.

Cap'n Dan, we'll miss you in the crowd at early morning Tourmo. May your waves be glassy and the winds offshore. Thanks for you friendship.

Tom and I have lost a good and gentle friend who taught us much about life's most important values. Always an officer and a gentleman, Dan was the source of keen insight and great New York City nostalgia. Touching the life of a good man is a privilege and rare pleasure. We will always value our shared times with Dan. Deep condolences to all the family.
