OLSZEWSKI, Daniel John, of Midlothian, Va., died Sunday, July 15, 2012, while hiking the Maah Daah Hey Trail in Theodore Roosevelt National Park near Medora, N.D. His body was found on Wednesday, July 18, by searchers that had been looking for Dan since Monday morning when he was reported missing. Dan is survived by his wife, Jennifer Lynn (Baker); two sons, Lucas John and Colton Alan; one daughter, Madeleine Anna Marie, all of Midlothian, Va.; his parents, John A. and Cindy L. (Diehl) Olszewski of Oswego, Ill.; sister and friend, Julie Ann Arntzen and Tom DeSilvia of Des Plaines, Ill.; brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey Dean and Heidy (Alvarez) Olszewski of Woodbridge, Ill.; brother, Scott Alan of Chicago, Ill.; in-laws, Walter and Gloria (Belanger) Baker of Aurora, Ill.; plus many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Dan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Lorraine Olszewski of Naperville, Ill.; and his maternal grandparents, G. Alan and Betty Lou Diehl of Crossville, Tenn. (formerly of Naperville, Ill.). Dan was a 1986 graduate of Western Illinois University. He had been employed by Morton Buildings, Inc. since August of 1993, currently managing the sales and construction center in Richmond, Va., as well as assisting in business development in western North Dakota. Dan was an avid outdoorsman, accomplished hiker, rugby player and all around fine man. He was also a devoted husband, father, family man and friend to many, all of whom will miss him greatly. A memorial service will be held at Bon Air Baptist Church, 2531 Buford Road, Richmond, Va. 23235 on Saturday, August 11, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Olszewski Children's College Fund at any Union First Market Bank.

Dan, It is a year ago today that you went on your last hike. We miss you, think of you daily and talk about you and how you were with us for only a short time. We love you Dan. You will be with us always.

Jenny and family, it was great to see all the people and hear the wonderful things that were said about Dan. Clearly he had many friends and played a positive role in many lives. He will be missed by all.

We have kept all of you in our hearts and prayers since we heard. Although we didnt know Dan we know his wonderful family. He had to be a wonderful, wonderful man. May God comfort you now and each and every day.
