Not sure what to say?

Dan, it's been a year and the void has not been an easy one to swallow. Your death came as such a shock to the whole family. Saying Happy Birthday on facebook is not the same as it was in person, but we have never missed a birthday. We had Father's day at Deb's and it wasn't the same without you there to do the grilling. We each miss you in our own way. I may hear a song or watch a movie we watched when we were young together, or visiting with the folks and seeing your pictures and flag...

I hope that when we see our families again, it is for a wedding or a holiday or even running into each other at the shopping mall. We saw Lisa on TV counting ballots but that isn’t the same.

I guess this is part of getting older but it sucks.

I remember when Paul died. Karen and I would laugh and make fun of him at the same time we couldn’t stop crying.

I hope that your parents can remember the Christmas’s with Danny and not dwell on the one...

I just want to say thank you to all Dan's family and friends who have taken the time to write or visit or whatever. It has helped a lot. I guess we never told you what happened to Dan. Dan died of a massive heart attack while preparing to move closer to home. They said that he had two heart attacks before which we did not know about. He also had arterial vascular problems and high blood pressure. We did not know all of this as Dan never complained. When it hit it was bammm before he...

Dan,
I'm glad I had the time to meet you, and you seem to be a great dad, grandpa, and friend. I know you had a lot of friends, family, and support system. You have a great family, and am glad to be appart of. I will make sure to take good care of your son, and make sure I will be here for him every step of the way now and forever (hopefully). I know I didnt know you all that well but in my heat I loved you because I loved your son. Love all to the Otten family, friends, and others.

Daniel Dale Otten Sr.

These were sent to me and I'd like to share, leaving them in the guest book.

Teri, you are covered in my prayers. Remember, he is only just away for a while and in the arms of JESUS. You will all be together again when JESUS calls us up in the Rapture. That is such a blessed hope for all Christians. Our grieving hearts are all part of the process and I know it is hard.

The HOLY SPIRIT will do HIS job and give you comfort; that is HIS promise to us. HIS promises are true...

To all Dan's good friends who have been there for the family I want to say thank you from all of us. We are sorry that the funeral was so early today but Fort Snelling changed our time to an hour earlier and then the weather sure didn't help at all. So please forgive if you missed out on the viewing because it couldn't be helped. We thank God for the icedog or rainbow or whatever it was. They say it meant that Dan went straight to heaven.

Hi my beloved brother, it's me again. I want to thank you for providing us with the glorious rainbow this morning on the way to the mortuary. God bless you for giving us the "sign". We all know you are with Jesus and can rest in peace. I hope you find Lonnie and can maybe play some ball with him. I think he'd like a big brother. Irv is the cribbage player, I hope you meet up for a few. To others that have gone before, you will have plenty of company. Thank you for the time we DID have...

Dear Dan,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss.
We know how important a dad is in your life.
If there is anything we can do to help, let us know.
Love, Gary & Brenda

Otten Family,

Our campany would have never made it with out Delivery Dan. The times Dan went way out of his way to help us with customer service is too many to count. Dan was a good man with a big heart. He will be missed. Scott
