Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather uncle and friend, DANIEL "DANNY" L. PADILLA, 66, of Las Cruces left his dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with his heavenly Father Thursday, February 14, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 13, 1942 in Las Cruces to Balbino M. and Ersenia Lopez Padilla. "Danny" as he was fondly known to his family and friends served his country honorably in the United States Army. He had been employed by Safeway Grocery Store as a produce manager and was a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Virginia Apodaca Padilla of the family home; two sons, Ralph A. and Rodolfo "Rudy" Padilla; two daughters, Rosemarie Padilla and Irene A. Padilla; a sister, Lupe P. Archuleta all of Las Cruces. Other survivors include six grandchildren, Joshua Aguirre, Shenoah Padilla, Crystal Padilla Serna and Jose Serna, Kandice Guzman and Adrian Benavidez as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Robert Archuleta.
A Prayer Vigil will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 7:30 PM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina where the Family and Friends will join together at 11 AM Wednesday, February 20, 2008 to celebrate the Funeral Mass with Reverend Michael Cerretto, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho with military honor accorded by a Fort Bliss Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League – El Perro Diablo Detachment.

Serving as casket bearers will be Rodolfo Padilla, Joshua Aguirre, Jose Serna, Rick Benavidez, Jose Avila and Isaac Apodaca. Honorary bearers will be Albert Benavidez, Crystal Padilla, Shenoah Padilla, Adrian Benavidez and Kandice Guzman.

The Padilla Family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels to direct funeral services. 527-2222
