Mr. Phillips was my PE coach at Valley High School. I will always remember him fondly. He truly cared for me as a student and he had such a passion for teaching. In my junior year at Valley, when Mr. Phillips was the Dean, I left class early and was caught. Mr. Phillips sat me down to speak about what I did. He was not mad, angry, or vindictive. He let me tell my side of the story and left me off lightly. May God be as kind and merciful to you as you were to me.

So sorry to hear about Danny. What an amazing human being. He, like his Dad, always had a smile and that infectious laugh to go along with it. He'd do anything for you. He will be missed.

Dan was a great friend and colleague of mine. When Dan began his teaching career at Cannon Middle School back in the mid 1980's, I had the pleasure of being his supervising administrator. He was a great, hard-working, dedicated history teacher that always strived to meet the needs of his students. I always looked forward to observing his classes. He taught with a tremendous amount of energy. His great sense of humor won the hearts of his students and colleagues. He was always there to lend a helping hand. On two occasions when I needed help moving, Dan was the first one to eagerly volunteer his own personal time to help my family move all of our belongings into our home. Dan worked very hard to advance his career to become a school administrator. He was fiercely dedicated and loyal to his students, colleagues, and schools. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family.

I don't even know where to start...Mr. Phillips was an incredible human being. Period. I had the honor and pleasure of working with him for four years at Losee. I always called him Mr. Phillips and he always called me Mrs. Mahoney. To work for this man was to know what it was to have a boss that unequivocally had your back. He would "fight to the death for you" and everyone knew that. Now, on those rare occasions that maybe you were wrong (insert laugh here), he would let you know in no uncertain terms behind closed doors. He built a legacy of trust and loyalty that I have not experienced anywhere else throughout my life. He loved my three kids and we genuinely, from the bottom of our hearts loved him. Mr. Phillips, we will see you on the flip side. Until we meet again, dear friend.
