Daniel Lee Pokora made his entrance into the world, two months premature, on October 19, 1942, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dan was a curious, delightful, young soul who became the darling of the nursing staff at the hospital for the two months he spent getting ready to join his family. The son of...

Not sure what to say?

So sad to hear about your passing cousin Dan we had lots of fun and we were kids will miss you

My sympathies to all his family. May God carry you all in his comforting arms throughout this sad time. He was a great teacher.

He has the heart of a servant that touched us all.

Marie and Family, My deepest condolences to you and family. What a nice man. Sending Love

It was a shock to hear of Mr. Pokora´s passing. I was one of his many students at Kenowa Hills High School. If anything I know I got him to laugh a few times. I really miss those days. He will be missed by many and remembered by all. Hold your family close during these times and remember the memories.

Marie, so sorry for your loss. You and Dan were a big part of my life through high school and college. All the dances...! I remember you and Dan including me in a trip to Muskegon to see West Side Story when it first came out. You were blessed by a lifelong relationship and I know that Dan is still caring for you now. I will be praying for you through the coming days. Hugs, my friend.

It is with tears that I write this memory of Dan, as I just spoke to him a few days ago. Dan was my co-chair of the St. Jude Catholic Church Bereavement Committee for many years, and we served together on the Hilary Thorne Stewardship Committee, also for many years. Dan and I joked that, at our ages, we would retire from the committees together and let the younger ones take over. His passing was not what I had in mind. I don't know anyone who was more humble about his accomplishments, but...

I too taught with Dan for around 30 years. I would talk daily as our rooms were across from each other. We served together as dept. heads at curriculum council. I participated with Dan on his photography award using my math students to plot and grid out the pond. I miss you so much. Our rides to school together, Our discussions on the future of education, all bring back memories that will endure. You were a trusted and beloved friend. My prayers are with Marie and the rest of the family.

My deepest Sympathies to the Family. May happy memories bring you comfort and peace. I was in his Camera Club in the 80's. Mr. Pokora would take us on photo fieldtrips and it wouldn't be long before he was asking us "where are we going to eat!" We joked we should change the name to the "culinary club". We always had so much fun on those trips. This is my happy memory. May perpetual light shine upon him.
