I a writing this a year after his passing not knowing he was gone until today. In the early 1980s I worked as Nurse Manager in Neurology clinic at UMass Medical Center and as clinical manager of the Alzheimer's clinic. My family knew the family featured in his book "Hannah's Heirs". My father and father in law used to play golf with "Jeff" and my mother and mother in law were in Hadassah. I had the pleasure of working with Dan Pollen during my employment at Umass Medical Center. Dan was one of the nicest people to work with and he was always kind and sincere. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

While working in the Department of Neurology I had the opportunity of interacting with Dr. Pollen on a daily basis. He was not only a brilliant scholar but was a very kind person. He always took the time to grace whomever he met with a smile and genuine "hello"!
He will truly be missed! May cherished memories sustain you during this difficult time. My deepest, heartfelt condolences.

To Dr. Pollen family I'm sorry for your loss it was my pleasure to work with him and he will be missed. He was a great person with a great sence of humor always smiling and professional.

I wanted to express my condolences. As a neurology nurse at UMass I remember just last year talking with him about your beautiful paintings as he showed me some of your work.

I knew and admired Dan Pollen for more than half a century, since the days when he was a medical student on the Neurology Service at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dan was a thoughtful, scientifically-gifted intellectual, with a subtle, whimsical sense of humor. He studied vision and epilepsy, primarily in the laboratory, until mid-life, when he recognized the critical value of applying his skills and knowledge broadly to help people especially those afflicted with Alzheimer's disease.
