Somersworth: Daniel R. Pomerleau, 60, of Somersworth NH died Sunday, November 6, surrounded by loved ones at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital after an accidental fall.

Dan was born July 4, 1945 and was the youngest of ten children. He grew up in Gonic, graduated from Spaulding High School and served as a radio man in the U.S. Navy for three years.

A devoted husband and father, Dan found pleasure in the simple things in life – fishing with his boys, stopping each morning for coffee and scratch tickets at the Bread and Butter, jamming with his countless musician friends and relatives, and telling anyone who would listen how much he loved his wife, Kathy Dell Isola.

At first glance one might have found Dan to be rough around the edges. Those that knew him well would, however, tell you of his gentle soul and his goodness of heart.

Dan’s passion in life was his music and he was well known around the Seacoast region as an accomplished musician who was humbled by his God-given talent. Over the years he played with the Del Rays, the Dave Nappy Band, 4 Hits and a Miss, the Freeborn Band, and the Studebakers; was a studio musician for Gordon Lightfoot; and recorded with the Blarney Stones in Cleveland.

Dan is predeceased by his mother Elsie Pomerleau, his father Joseph N. Pomerleau, his brothers William and Ernest, and his daughter Caitlin.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years Kathy Dell Isola; his sons Danny, John, Aron and his wife Catrina ; his daughters Danielle Perreault and her husband Roger; Aimee Wade and her husband Bill; Hilary Pomerleau; Justin Zaetz who Dan cared for as much as a son; and his grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Chloe, Alison, Nicole, and Joshua. In addition he is survived by his brothers Eugene, Joseph, and Arthur; his sisters Florence Worster, Elizabeth Tufts, Theresa Tolman, and Annette Cook; many aunts, uncles, in-laws, cousins, nephews, nieces, and literally hundreds of friends.

Calling hours are Thursday, November 10th, from 4-7 pm at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Avenue, Dover, NH 03820.

A mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church in Dover on Friday, November 11th, at 1pm with Reverend Damien Ledoux officiating. The family invites all of Dan’s friends to join them for a Celebration of Dan’s Life beginning at 2pm on Sunday, November 13th, at the Sunningdale Country Club, 301 Green Street in Somersworth. Please bring a dish to share and there will be a cash bar.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Daniel R. Pomerleau Memorial Account (no. 003880150384) at Bank of America, 180 Washington Street, Dover, NH 03820.

Not sure what to say?

Dear Kathy and family;
We are sorry to hear about the loss of your husband Danny. I met you guys when I was little and I remember the blockparty's you put on for the whole neighborhood and how much fun everyone had! Barry Rousseau is in Florida with no internet service so I told him the sad news. He told me to tell you that he will deeply miss Danny and told me all the fun times everyone had in the band.

Also, Paul and Joyce Berry are keeping your family in their...

Danny was and is one of those special friends that come along in life. When informed of his passing I wrote a mutual friend that "Danny
could have been a Star", after thinking about it for a day I changed my mind. Danny R. Pomerleau
"WAS A STAR". He starred in the things that were truley important to him, his wonderful and loving family. They were and I'm sure, still are, more important and more priceless to him than any private jet, house in the hills, or the fleeting fame that...

Dear Mrs. Pomerleau and Family,
Danny was a real prescence to everyone he touched in his life, he will be so missed by all. God bless and help you through your loss.

First and foremost my condolences and prayers to his wife, children and grandchildren. Although I haven't seen Danny in nearly 40 years, I'm sure his music is still echoing off the mountain tops of Asamara Ethiopia where I met him. And in my heart I know when Gabriel blew his horm, Danny started playing his guitar along with him...

Kathy,Danny and John,
I still remember the day we met you all as we moved into a new neighborhood at the same time. And all the fun times we had in that neighborhood as we watched the kids grow. There was never a dull moment! But it was always fun. Here we are 15 or so years later and although we moved out of the neighborhood we still remain friends. Because that's what true friends are. We'll miss Dan so much. As much fun as it was to see Dan on stage, I will really miss the times that...

Hi Kathy and Family,
In the 30+ years that I knew Dan, also the 5 years together in "4 Hits and A Miss", I got to know Dan very well. His talent as a musician was only superceded by his kindness. We shared a closeness on many songs that we sang together that went deep. Especially a Bee Gee song called "Words".
He will be missed and the music field suffered a great loss.

Kathy and Family,
I have worked on and off for Bread n Butter for almost 8 years, and Dan was a face i expected each time i was there. My shock pails to what your family must be going through. I pray you the strength to stand up to each new day. My sincerest thoughts go out to you as im sure i speak for all who work at B&B.

Kathy & family,

I will always remember seeing Dan's smiling face early each morning as I was out walking my dog in the neighborhood and he was leaving to get his coffee. He always took a second to smile and wave. Knowing he was there was a comfort to me and made me feel less alone so early in the morning. He is already deeply missed. You and your family are, and will remain, in my thoughts and prayers.
