Not sure what to say?

I had the privilege of working around Dan at MPR for many years. He was a technical genius, I a modest news announcer...so I can't claim that he was a close colleague. I didn't understand the details of what Dan did, but I do know much of his work was groundbreaking. Impossible was not in his vocabulary. All who enjoy MPR today can thank Dan Rieder for his creativity and expertise in building the MPR network in its early years.

Dan and I were neighbors at Hamline House. He lived just a few doors down, and I have known him for about 27 years. We served on the Board of directors here together for several years. My Dear Brother Dan, I thought you'd be around a lot longer than me! Boy am I gonna MISS YOU! You were with our family every holiday. You had a great big caring heart for any thing that happened in our lives. I loved you lots. Your Sister Kathryn

Uncle Danny,
We all loved you very much. You were always my favorite uncle. Our holidays will not be the same without you. I'll miss our conversations on hi-fi equipment, health foods, money & even politics!!! I'll miss meeting you at Perkins on Lexington during my "july vacation" every summer. I'll be there this July & thinking about you!!! You will be missed. I hope to see you someday soon.
Your Nephew
GREG

It was always good to have a conversation with our cousin Dan - He was a very interested and interesting person. Though we're not able to be at the service, we'll remember and celebrate his life.
Love,
Janie and Pat Thiegs

I learned a lot about broadcast engineering from Dan over the years. He was a true scientist. He interviewed me for a job at MPR back in the late 1970's and although I didn't get hired I learned a lot about FM radio in that 'short' interview that lasted almost all day.

Dan once owned a Chevy that had a bad gear on the starter assembly, and when the starter wouldn't kick in and he was asked why he didn't get the problem fixed he said that it was no trouble to rock the car in gear to...
