RIO, Daniel, 79 of Tampa, passed away on February 12, 2013. Daniel was born in 1933. Preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Delores Rio and Sister Sylvia Rio Sanchez. A lifelong resident of Tampa, Mr. Rio's greatest joy in life was his family, coaching baseball at North Seminole Little League for more than 18 years. He was also deacon at his church. Because of his service and devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ and to his community, The Rio Center at Christ Community Church was named after him. Daniel retired as Captain from the City of Tampa Fire Department after 22 years of service and was a master carpenter. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dorothy Massaro Rio; children, Leslie Rio Ferrell and Daniel Rio, Jr.; brother and sister, Evelio Rio (Jasmine) and Gloria Rio de la Llana; sister-in-law, Joan Massaro Berkowitz; grand daughter; Tina Marie Canalejo; grandsons, Christopher Ferrell, twin boys Llex and John Rio, Ashton Rinker, & Robert Rinker and many loving nieces, nephews, and other loving family members. Family will be receiving friends Saturday February 16, from 11a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at JGR Funeral Home 6718 N. Armenia Ave. Immediately following visitation, a Graveside service for entombment will be held at Garden of Memories Cemetery (on Lake Ave.). I have been blessed to be Chris Ferrell's step-mother since 2004; and, over the years I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Rio just a few times. What I learned from Chris and his dad is that Mr. Rio was the epitome of a good man. He loved his family unconditionally and was there whenever anyone needed him; he had a strong and abiding faith; and, he took utmost satisfaction from a job well done.
