RIP, Dan. Seeing this today not only caught me by surprise but broke my heart. Dan was a consummate professional and everyone who worked w him were better off for it. Sending my thoughts and prayers to his family.

Like others in these posts, I had the privilege of knowing Dan as I went through the Basic Special Agent Course (BSAC-71) with Dan, a rock solid pilar of a class leader, guiding a weird bunch of challenging personalities. We were also Border Patrol Agents prior to joining the Foreign Service so that so that made connecting with Dan much easier. Not that it was hard for Dan to get you to like him. I wish I had known him more but assignments with DS separate friends. I'm very sorry to hear...

My prayer and condolences to the family. Dan was a solid and stand up guy. I had the privilege of going through law enforcement forcement training and serving with him in the U.S. State Department. God bless him and the family. Dan will be missed.

I had the good fortune to work with Dan in Port-Au-Prince on a difficult assignment with DS in 2004. Dan was one of the good ones. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. May his memory be a blessing.

Working for DSS is a strange career where we know many people by name and reputation without ever really crossing paths. I never realized Dan and I have so much in common - born 10 months apart, growing up in Michigan, sports, Border Patrol, and about the same time with DSS. I even went to WMU around the same time. I wish I had known him personally, but I know many who did and held him in high regard. Our deepest condolences to the Robrahn family. We are praying for you.

I went through the Basic Special Agent Course (BSAC) with Dan and served with him in Arlington, Port-Au-Prince, and a few places in between. He was like a brother to me. My condolences to his friends and family. Rest in Peace Dan.
