I am so sorry that Dan did not live to see this publication, which went out today to over 2200 readers. He was a wonderful poet to correspond with, and we corresponded a lot over his poems, his bio. I hope you all enjoy this, if you have not yet seen it:

Dan was a delightful guy and a well respected teacher and person in the Laurel community. I am so very sorry to know his joy- giving life has ended. Way way too soon. He was always a pleasure to be around.

Dan was a friend and colleague at St. Ignatius High School from 1985 to 1988. He was an English Teacher when I first met him, but then he joined us on the Campus Ministry Team. His zeal and creative energy, especially as an alumnus and already-beloved classroom teacher, helped us see our students with clearer focus. How can I describe the hours we three prepared for each retreat and event as a team? Fun, deep, earthy, spiritual, altruistic--a real "Man for Others." Dan also honed a new...

Dan was one of the finest people I ever knew. And he sure knew how to tell a joke. I attended several of his poetry readings and am happy to say I have one of his books. I will remember him fondly and hope your memories of Dan will be of comfort to you.

Dan was my fraternity brother and pledge son at Northwestern University. He was a very special person and showed remarkable abilities, character and humor. I understand he was a great teacher as well. A close friend of mine who is now a US district attorney, told me that Dan was instrumental in his decision to go onto college and law school. I am honored to have known Dan but he will be deeply missed. I send my thought and prayers to his family and friends.
With much...

I've attended many readings of original poetry throughout the years, especially at Univ of AZ where I took classes in the arts. But the one that still stands out in my memory is hearing Dan tell his tale about caddying at Canterbury. The ins and outs of the psychology of a caddy and the sport of gulf & joy of life he portrayed will always be with me. Thank you Dan! (The reading was a carrot to help people attend a meeting supporting the Carmelite Monastery.)
My sincere condolences to...
