Daniel F. Ryan, Jr.

Mr. Daniel F. Ryan, Jr. passed away peacefully, in his sleep, at his Somerville home Saturday morning; he was 91. He was the beloved husband of the late Marion L. (Driscoll) Ryan.

One of six children, he was born in Somerville son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Ryan. He enlisted in the Marine Corp, underage, and proudly served during World War II. Always working to support his family, Daniel held many jobs. For twenty five years he worked for First National Stores as a meat-cutter; following his retirement, he then began working for the State of Massachusetts at the Mass. Water Resources Authority. He was also a longtime member of Teamsters Local 25.

He is survived by his children; Daniel F. Ryan, III and his wife Annette of Portsmouth, NH, Dana Ryan and his wife Bonnie of Fitzwilliam, NH, Karen Ryan of Somerville, Kathleen Caruso and her husband David of Salem, NH and John Ryan and his wife Christine of Somerville.

Daniel was predeceased by his brother Peter and sisters; Lillian, Veronica, Katherine and May.

He was the cherished Grampy of ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at the Holy Cross Cemetery, 175 Broadway, Malden on Friday, August 26, 2016. at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and are asked to please meet just inside the main gate of the cemetery about 10:15 a.m.
