Not sure what to say?

Leslie and family, Sorry I missed being with you at Dan's celebration of lofe service. He was a wonderful person, and epitomized what serving was really like in the Probation service of old, just like our original founder, John Augustus. He always had a smile on his face, and a warmth about him, that put everyone he met at ease. He was a gem, and I ama better person for having known him and walked the same path in life. He called me when in 2009 from Plymouth court when I was rehabing up the...

Dan was the first person I interviewed with for probation . I was 46 and 20 yrs later I am getting ready to retire from the trial court. I just saw his obituary and with much regret I. Am saddened by his passing and not being able to attend his services. He was indeed one of the best guys and always had a hug for me when I. Would see him in trainings.he will be missed.

Yesterday I found out that my first “official Boss” Dan Ryan had left us to hopefully a better place. I was saddened by the news but the phone call I received brought back all of the great memories of my days at Wine Berries & Cheese. It was Mr.Ryan who gave me the first opportunity as a young lady to experience the business world. I started as a cashier and soon after he offered me a supervisory position. He believed in me. He was a kind person who knew that he was not only offering me a job...

Dan and Christina hired me on as part of the young team of Wine Berries and Cheese back in the 80's. What a great place to work during my college years. Dan had attempted to educate me on the different wines of the world. I always loved the excitement he stirred up when he got the early shipment of Beaujolais Nuveau. Thank you for all the good things you put into that young kids head.

There are so many wonderful memories of Dan. We are so glad to have shared many joyous moments together. His laughter will always be remembered along with the classic stories he told and the delight he took from a life filled with many good friends – legends all. His belief in advanced science and technology in relation to addiction was impressive and heartfelt. He was truly unforgettable. We will miss him. With love, Bob and Pam

I had the pleasure of working for and with Dan at Wine Berries & Cheese as a college student at Northeastern University more than 30 years ago. I can still remember his shining personality, his willingness to teach, advise and employ me and several of my classmates during our several years working for him. We will all miss Dan, and wish his family Best Wishes during this difficult time.

The Dan Ryan I knew best was an entrepreneur. His personality unmistakably showed most traits associated and essential to that title. Abundant passion, commitment and energy were always on display at Wine Berries & Cheese. Customers were charmed by his engaging personality and commitment to quality. Staff benefited from Dan’s ability to recognize raw talent and intelligence and his willingness to provide opportunities to learn and advance in responsibility. Dan’s creativity and...

Danny was a wonderful, kind and very compassionate person with an incredible sense of humor. A very dear friend. Over the years I have often thought about him even though we drifted apart, as I moved to Europe. He gave me my first chance at a job at the wonderful Wineberries and Cheese store, when times were tough in the 80's. Dan believed in the potential of young people and was able to bring out the best in them. I will miss him. My heartfelt condolences to his family. Anthony Vischer,...

To me, Danny will always be a strong, kind-hearted person who was always was an absolute pleasure to be around. A stubborn Irishman to the very end, he was always there with a story from his dubious past to cheer you up when you were troubled or a strong back to help pick you up when you were down. As my Godfather and one of my father's best friends, Danny was a huge part of my life, and I will miss him terribly. I am a better human being for having known him and will always cherish the...
