Dear Dan: Always alive in our memories- with thanks for the life-changing times together

Dear Doris,

I was truly struck and severely saddened to just now learn of Dan's passing.

As I think you know Dan was a major influence in my life and in any success I may have had as an educator.

I am now more grateful than ever that I was able to spend a few days with you both several years ago.

My best to you and your family.

Dear Doris & family, This is late since I just learned of Dan's passing. Our friendship goes all the way back to high school days at Central Point, Oregon and continued through the years. Roland and I admired Dan (and also you) for your courage and dedication to peace. Dan was always such an interesting person to share ideas with. I am glad that we shared so many memories together through the years. He will be missed.

Dear Doris
Just wanted to express our condolences on your recent loss of Dan. We were in Florida but our boys did let us know about it. He was a very accomplished gentleman and certainly the perfect neighbor. God Bless Charlie and Nancy Detor

Dan Sage made it possible for me to complete a Certificate of Advanced Study within a limited time frame when I needed to be in Syracuse. His efforts to help me complete the course work and do an internship expanded my background for supervision of student teachers which I carried back to my job with the Department of Defense Overseas Schools in Germany. I will remember his kind manner and concern for students with disabilities as he guided me through those two summers and a year of course...

Dear Doris,

I can't remember you and Dan without visualizing your house and sons (and Herkimer) that you so kindly let me occupy while you were away in Florida on sabbatical. Your kindness and generosity typlify the model you both provided for me as a doctoral student in the 70s.

As a doctoral advisor, Dan was a true mentor – someone who advocated for my personal and professional growth as if it was his own. With Dan guiding my doctoral experience, I learned a lot more than...

I remember Dan as never being alone; he and Doris were always together. More than a dozen years at the SOA and dozens of times at protests on Syracuse streets. Together! That's the way I'll remember them both. Peace to you both. Presente!

Dear Doris & Family and friends,
Dan was more than my Advisor, he was a mentor, friend and all around good guy.
Dan actually did "pay it forward" for the people he touched in his life and in his career. He gave his students a unique opportunity to not only learn the necessary skills to be successful, Dan taught us all to be better people.
Doris ... you had a good man and he'll always be a part of you. Thanks for sharing Dan with us.

I remember Dan as a kind, intelligent, and thoughtful man, always a gentleman. I am glad to have known him, and am so sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts are with Doris and the rest of your family.
