Not sure what to say?

To Dan's family. My heartfelt condolences to you, Carolin, and to your family. "Danny" as I called him, informally, possessed legendary status in the Attorney General's Office, first meeting him in 1975. He was a first rate lawyer, imbued with a keen mind, industrious work ethic and was a master of Federal Civil Procedure. I particularly recall his humanity and accessibility on litigation questions to a novice attorney and his overall decency. His extraordinary public service of 53 years to...

I worked with Dan for more than 30 years in the Attorney General's Office prior to my retirement in 2003. That he went on to serve Connecticut for another twenty years is truly incredible. He was a friend, colleague, mentor and intellect. Dan was a legend in the office long before his passing and that legend will long be remembered. Blessings to Dan's family. Thank you for sharing him with us.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. Your Dan was a regular reader at the Connecticut State Library. We law librarians respected him for his diligence and humanity.

We wish to offer our sincerest condolencces to Danny's family at this sad time. He was a quiet, bright, and engaging mensch. His service to the Navy, the Jewish War Veterans, Israel, the State of Connecticut and Congregation Beth Israel all helped make this planet a better place. We'll miss him. May his memory be for a blessing, and may he rest in peace.

My condolences to Danny´s family. I worked in the AG´s for many years and knew Danny well. We used to reminisce about our days at the old Southwest school on White street in Hartford. He was a great attorney and one of best persons I have known. Truly a good man!

Dan was a kind and gentle man who was not only a learned colleague, but also generously willing to share his time with others. May his memory be a blessing.

May his memory be a blessing - from a long time member of Cong. Beth Israel

To Dan´s Family: I first met Dan many years ago back in the day when the AG´s office was located at 30 Trinity Street. Dan always took the time to give kind words of encouragement to the new attorneys in the office and to help locate a case on point on an issue you were researching. I will always remember the Dan Schaefer Table in the office library piled high with open law books and boxes of files while Dan busily drafted a brief. Dan had a remarkable legal career. May he Rest in Peace. Jack...

Dear family members, I was so saddened to hear the news of the passing of Dan. He was such a shining gem in the Office of the CT Attorney General--he was exceedingly smart, hard working and dedicated. I will never forget his smile too that made others smile. The citizens of the State of CT were indeed fortunate to have Dan in their corner on so many legal issues over his long career with the office. He cared deeply about all the legal cases he worked on and when I was the CT AG I always...
