Daniel Lee Shaw II, 13, of Burlington, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. Born April 25, 1998, in Burlington, he was the son of Daniel Lee and Debra Ann Ownby Shaw. He was an 8th grader at Aldo Leopold Middle School. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. He loved all animals and was planning to be a volunteer at Des Moines County Humane Society this summer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, playing XBox 360, traveling, spending time on the river and tubing, being outdoors, and catching snakes and critters and chasing girls with them. He liked to make art, play football, was an avid reader and liked to read the comics out of the newspaper. He was a Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers fan. He also spent his time hanging out at Perkins Park under the bridge and hanging out with his brother Deven. Survivors include his parents, Dan and Debra Shaw of Burlington; one brother, Deven Shaw at home; one sister, Destiny Shaw at home; paternal grandparents, Diana Stoneking of Keokuk, IA, and John L. Pendell of Hastings, NY; paternal great-grandparents, Bill "Grandpa" Shaw of Burlington, and John M. (Dorothy) Pendell of Mallory, NY; maternal grandfather, Teddy E. (Janice) Ownby Sr. of Rossville, GA; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandma, Reiko Shaw, paternal great grandma Mary Ferrell, maternal grandma, Wanettia Ownby, and maternal great-grandparents. Visitation will be from noon until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Daniel will be 10:00 AM Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Brad Cranston officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. 6 almost 7 years later and i still think about ya, i really miss u buddie u have a new little cousin her name iss addiyln shes 1 and your other cousin allionna is 4 now ... time sure dies fly by i miss u so much daniel man id give anything just to see and talk to u again but ik i will when its my time anyway rest easy daniel
