Not sure what to say?

I served with Dan as an officer in the Public Health Service in Cincinnati from mid-1968 thru mid-1970. (In late 1970, our department merged into the then-new EPA.) He and I shared many interests, including photography. One big difference: Dan bought stuff that resonated with his interests, while I merely listed stuff to acquire later. I'd heard Dan worked for EPA in Kansas City but never had the chance to reestablish our connection. Very sorry to know that the window is closed. All...

Will miss my friend who was fiercely loyal to his faith and friends.....he had a kindness & grace that was "2nd to none!"

Dan Stratton...Friend from Nordstrom & Allen Edmonds Shoes

We were so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. We are keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

I would like to express my condolences to the Shiel family. I have known Dan my entire EPA career of 34 years. He was always kind, courteous and a wonderful person to work with. He will be missed.

Dan was a sweet, smart, funny guy, who I will always remember for his laugh, and his kindness. One funny story: He was a devotee of the Franklin Planner, and a few months after giving FP training, he sent a quiz out to the office to check up on whether people were still properly using the thing. When I told him I had not seen the quiz, I later found two memos in my in-box: one, addressed to: Everyone in the World EXCEPT Pat Hirsch, with the three pages of multiple choice questions on proper...

I work at the EPA R7 and I did not know Dan personally, but a man that spent 40 years of his life protecting human health and the environment, a man that was married to the same women for 44 years, and a man that loved his dog and enjoyed feeding the birds must have been an incredible man. This world will miss him. My condolences to his family.

I am so sorry to hear of Dan's passing and hope you all are together at this sad time. He was an incredibly thoughtful and diligent person and a valued employee of EPA. I have many wonderful memories of our various discussions of Mouser, his work painting the house, his bicycle adventures across several of our states with Joyce...

Dan was indeed a fine gentleman. He worked hard and successfully for many years and I am sorry he did not get to enjoy the retirement years he earned. My sincere condolences to the family. Patricia Maxwell (EPA employee)
