It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel (Dan) Kevin Smith on March 3, 2025, in Grand Rapids, MI, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born on April 22, 1966, in Orange, California, Dan was joyously adopted by James and Nancy Smith. He was a devoted husband, father,...

Not sure what to say?

I recently learned of Dan's passing and am so saddened to hear. I am a former colleague of Dan's from Corewell Health. We worked together during the pandemic to support team member well-being. Dan was always kind. He was a strategic and collaborative leader. He was easygoing and fun to work with. We connected over a number of things - my family moved to Boise for a year 2022-2023; We have a family business in Oregon and I used to live in the Bay Area. My husband also gardens at the Perkins...

I'm thankful to have known Dan, he was a great coach and mentor growing up.

Dan coached both of my children, thankful for his solid leadership and example.

Dan had the innate ability to feel like a longtime friend the moment you met him. He had a generous and kind spirit. I´m am glad to have known Dan. He will be missed. I hope his family finds comfort during this challenging time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dan was not only a good friend, but also a mentor and big brother who played a really important role in my life and career. I will always remember him as a witty, adventurous, endlessly creative, and kind man who loved his family so much, and spoke often with pride (and with lots of photos to share!) of their personal and professional accomplishments. With love and deep sympathy to the Smith family, from the Carnevale's.

I am so incredibly sorry to hear about Dans passing. I grew up with the Smith family, and was good friends with Kathleen. I´m sending all of my love and thoughts, your wonderful family

I´m so sorry to see this news. Dan was a business and soccer friend. I enjoyed both of those times together. He was a good man and will be missed.

I'm so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. We played on the same school and club soccer teams in highschool in Boise. He and his dad Jim really brought competitive soccer to Idaho from California. We had some good players but Dan was at another level and not just because he had natural talent. He worked and trained tirelessly on his own and for multiple teams and many camps. He was an intense competitor and made others better. We were not surprised when he was recruited to a top college, he...
