I am writing to you as I heard of Danny thru Jim Taylor. I am an Aunt of Jimmy thur marriage and also a bereaved mom. ( my son died years ago now. and you never , never forget your child ever. ) I am so sorry to hear of Danny and wanted to extend a hug and helping hand. The story of your amazing son and his enthusiasm for life has brought such inspiration into my life; I am blessed by his memory, even though I did not know him. Last week I lost another friend, who also enjoyed life. Taking the words you wrote as his epitaph, I wrote a song to keep the inspiration close. It's called "Sam and Danny Did":

I’ve always lived a buttoned-down life
Afraid to let myself go

After my husband passed away im March, my son-in-law said "God only takes the strongest soldiers". I hope these words can bring you even a tiny bit of comfort. To have touched so many lives in such a short time is a miracle. May God bless you always.

My 93 year old dad read about Danny in the Portland (Maine)Press Herald. It moved him so much that he passed the article on to me. Danny's story moved me too - so much so that after reading the story, I folded it up and put it in my purse - I just couldn't put it in the recycle bin!
